Sabey Data Centers is expanding with new megawatt-scale availability in Columbia and Seattle to support growth and sustainable infrastructure demand
Having announced a thirty megawatt (30MW) capacity expansion in the Pacific Northwest, Sabey Data Centers is introducing new capacity that is coming online at two of its campuses in Washington state.
With availability expected to begin in Q4 2025, the expansion is set to strengthen the company’s ability to meet increasing demand for infrastructure that is sustainable and scalable.
“These two expansions reflect our continued investment in delivering sustainable, reliable, and scalable digital infrastructure across key U.S. markets,” says Tim Mirick, President of Sabey Data Centers.
Building resiliency across key markets
Both Seattle and Columbia are strategic data centre markets. Sudden growth in AI is driving data centre demand at a fast pace, according to CBRE’s North American Data Center Trend Report.
Likewise, data centre developers and tenants have been attracted by the state’s tax incentives, green power and opportunities for colocation. In fact, Central Washington has the lowest vacancy of all data centre markets at 0.16% in 2024, CBRE says.
“Washington state’s data centre tax exemptions and reliable hydropower have provided some of North America’s lowest total cost of occupancy (TOC) solutions for data centre operators and users,” Jane Blair, Senior Vice President with CBRE Data Center Solutions in Seattle shares.
“AI equipment has dramatically increased the amount of power needed to cool data centres, so existing utility providers are struggling to meet the surging demand. Both operators and utilities across the state are exploring a myriad of alternate power sources to expand their offerings.”
Sabey Data Centers has a portfolio of more than four million square feet of mission-critical space. Currently, it is one of the largest privately owned multi-tenant data centre owners and developers in the US, specialising in data centres that are custom-built and recognised for their efficiency.
A joint venture between Sabey Corporation and National Real Estate Advisors, Sabey Data Centers provides sustainable data centre services to many world-leading financial, technology and healthcare companies.
Supporting sustainable growth
In Seattle, 6MW of Tier 3 critical power will come online in December 2025, Sabey Data Centers says. Located in the region’s most populated metropolitan area, Sabey’s flagship campus is powered by 100% carbon-free electricity from Seattle City Light and offers options for interconnectivity. This includes access to more than 20 carriers.
SDC Seattle:
100% carbon-free power
20 carriers for networking redundancy and cloud on-ramps
54MW capacity
~1.5 Average annualized PUE
The campus is also purpose-built for resiliency, scalability and operational excellence, with the Seattle facility delivering strong energy efficiencies and a PUE of 1.5 approximately.
Likewise, at its Columbia campus in East Wenatchee, Washington, 5.5MW of Tier 3 critical power is expected to be available in November 2025.
The facility is prided on its low-cost renewable hydropower, delivering an exceptionally low total cost of ownership, with a PUE of 1.2 on average. It also has robust network connectivity on site and access to more than seven Tier 1 providers, with potential to grow.
An announcement of this scale in a critical Pacific market builds on Sabey Data Centers’ long-term commitment to offering future-ready data centres that are not only energy efficient, but also to support cloud and AI deployments as these technologies continue to evolve.
Tim adds: “Whether customers are seeking lower total cost of ownership or world-class interconnection, our Columbia and Seattle campuses provide the flexibility and performance today’s enterprises need.”
